1 About Common Man Coffee Roasters

What is CMCR

Common Man Coffee Roasters (CMCR) is a specialty coffee roaster, wholesaler, Cafe and Academy based in Singapore and operating throughout Asia.

What is specialty coffee?

At CMCR we only roast, sell and serve specialty grade Arabica coffee.

All coffee beans can be graded out of 100. This grading process is called “cupping”. And according to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), specialty coffee is Arabica coffee with a cup score of 80+ points.

Generally speaking, this coffee is grown in special or ideal climates and exhibit distinctive flavours which are representative of their variety, growing region and processing method. The beans are then expertly roasted by the CMCR team to bring out their potential for you. We strive to ensure transparency and sustainability at every level of the supply chain.

Where do your coffee beans come from?

Our beans are sourced from all over the world by a dedicated team of Green Bean Buyers.

We take particular pride in developing and maintaining sustainable and meaningful relationships with our coffee suppliers, some of which we have been trading with since CMCR began.

Are your products certified as Fairtrade?

Our coffee isn’t certified fair-trade but, being part of the specialty coffee industry, we practice ‘direct’ trade. Direct trade offers a higher degree of traceability and even more value being given back to the farmers and producers in coffee growing regions than Fairtrade.

Where is your coffee roasted?

Our roasting facility is based in Philippines. We roast almost daily to order and make sure we evaluate our coffee through cuppings on a weekly basis to ensure a fresh and consistent product.
